About the House

A House for everyone:

The House of Others is an independent, queer woman-owned apparel brand built for people who make room, speak up, and bring a little more personality into the world.

We make graphic tees about identity, individuality, community, humor, and the beautifully strange business of being human.

Because sometimes a shirt is just a shirt.
And sometimes it’s a statement made in fabric.

Meet Meera

Meera, founder of The House of Others, lying back on a stone ledge in the mountains, a backpack beside them and misty ridges in the distance

The woman behind The House of Others.

I started The House of Others out of a love for design, nature, people, and the belief that everyone deserves belonging.

Nature finds its way into a lot of my work. I love being in it, observing it, and remembering that we’re part of it - not separate from it. There’s something grounding about how resilient, strange, adaptive, and completely unconcerned with perfection the natural world is. I think there’s a lot to learn from that.

I’m equally drawn to people and community. I care about the people around me, the relationships we build, the ways we show up for one another, and the simple fact that life is better when there’s room for different kinds of people in it.

Outside of work, I’m happiest somewhere green, around people I love, or in the kitchen. My friends and family insist my spinach and ricotta lasagna is exceptional, and I see no reason to challenge that consensus.

I also have two cats, who occupy an unreasonable amount of my mental bandwidth at any given moment.

So yes, I remain fully committed to the childless cat lady agenda.

The House of Others is ultimately an extension of the things I care about: good design, curiosity, humor, nature, community, and making room for people to be fully themselves.

Thanks for being here.

Why “The House of Others”?

Most of us have felt like the other at some point.

It’s what makes the house interesting.
For the curious ones. The outspoken ones. The people who think differently, dress differently, laugh at inappropriate moments, and have never been particularly interested in fitting the default setting.
There’s room.

Made by actual humans.

This matters to us.
We don’t use generative AI to create our artwork.

Every design begins with a real idea and goes through a very human process of artistic creation: sketching, writing, rewriting, drawing, editing, finessing, and eventually deciding it’s ready to leave the house.

Technology is useful.
But creativity is a quintessential part of being human.

Made to order. On purpose.

We produce our apparel after you order it.
That means fewer piles of unwanted inventory and less unnecessary overproduction.

Making clothing will always have an impact, and we’re not interested in pretending otherwise. We’d rather make considered choices, work with quality garments, and produce only what people actually want.

Not perfect. Just considered.

Share the House.

A good house doesn’t keep everything for itself.

Through Share the House, we set aside a portion of what we earn to support grassroots and community organizations doing meaningful work for people who need it.

We’ll share more about the organizations we support as the program grows.

Because making room is good.
Helping create more of it is better.

Come on in.

The House of Others is for people who make room.
People who speak up.
People who bring their own perspective to the table.
And anyone who has ever felt a little outside the usual.
There’s room for you here.

Welcome to the House.
